DP of Dark Night Rises
The Director of Photography for the Dark Knight Rises he goes by the name of Wally Pfister. Movies that he directed, you may recognize are Dark Knight Rises, Moneyball, Inception, the list goes on and on.
Talking about the concepts of design from a directors stand point; lets start at:
0:01-0:04 The actors start to look one way and the camera starts to follow.
- The camera following the direction of where the actors are looking; makes you feel is if you are there, in that scene or that specific situation.
0:05-0:11
- The camera following right behind the Joker. This scenario puts you in a perspective that you are with the joker on his side and his prospective.
0:23-0:30
- They used a great figure ground example with the pencil. They are really tight on the pen allowing the viewer to really hone in on the magic trick. Even better the they didn't even have to use special effects on this scene. The motion of camera goes up and the pencil goes out of the scene. As the camera goes back down motion blur occurs and the viewer can't see that there is a pencil there. But your mind tells you that its still there.
Push in effect and close ups
- The push in effect the camera is slowing moving forward, making it reel as if the person is talking to you.
- Close ups, make you feel as if you are there in that situation talking to that individual.

Some Rules of Photography
I captured this shot of my friend, named "Brain Cameron". This image fallows the rule of thirds because the right vertical line would go right down the middle of his nose.
This image was taken of an LDS Temple front door, located in Draper Utah. This image is following the diagonal rule.

1. Texture- This image has great texture because of the white specs you see in the image. I personally feel like if I were to rub my hand across the font.I would be able to feel the different details in the font.
2. Law of Closure- We ignore the white space that is making the sky scrappers. This allows our minds to fill in the rest of the letters to see the name "Urban Jungle".
3. Kerning- The kerning of the image allows the image to be grouped together and makes it seem that the sky scrappers are one city.
4. All Caps- I feel like the all caps captures your attention, and gives the brand bulk, making it seem powerful and a good company.

Apple Vs Microsoft Good and Bad design
There is a constant battle between Apple and Microsoft. We are constantly hearing people arguing about which company is better. I decided to do my analysis of good design and bad design between these two companies and the commercials that they have recently released.
The commercial for Microsoft takes place in an office. We know this right away because of the figure ground that is taking place, because of the suit he is wearing and the table he is sitting at. The psycho motor response hits for me because of the music, and sounds. I feel happy watching the video or it makes me think I will be cool If I buy this tablet. Throughout the video I personally lose focus of the actual product because there is so much going on.
Apple does a wonderful job when it comes to visual communication. The way that the commercial starts up that psycho motor is unbelievable. I believe that psycho motor starts up just because the concept of figure ground. The figure ground in this video is the world. They show you different parts of the world and they make you realize you are a part of the world. The commercial has great contrast, hey tell you a story leaving you wondering how are you changing the world? They also show you how Ipads are changing the world. The selection of color in video is more saturated, and brighter colors leaving you feeling good inside.
Apple wins the race, because they show you the beautiful world we live in and people can relate to that. Who doesn't want to see the world and make it a better place. Where as Microsoft puts you in a office. I think most people in this world want to be making a difference in the world, not sitting on you butt in an office, and some people can't relate to that. Apple created the better design hand down and I look forward to watching more of there commercials.

Contrast, Balance, Harmony
This Image I took last year with my friend Alicia Card, here in St. George. The contrast of this image was brought up, creating somewhat of a silhouette, and to bring out the rolling hills in the back ground. This image is somewhat following the rule of thirds. If she was moved a tiny bit to the right and brought down a little bit it would be perfect. This image also is Asymmetrical because she is not lined up perfectly in the image. If Alicia was placed perfectly in the middle the image wouldn't be in Harmony, because it would take away they idea that, she is on a cliff edge looking of the city.
There also is more contrast behind this image for me personally because Alicia is a great friend of mine. When she has here mind to something she goes after it. This picture I believe describes her personality perfectly. Alicia Card is currently off chasing her hope and dreams in New York City.

Visceral Response
The image " Afghan Girl" creates a Visceral response for me because the color with in her eyes. Green is known at a color of life, and that she is a living human being living in poor living conditions. Every time I look at this image I'm immediately drawn to here eyes because brightness of them. The texture of here skin the browns right below her cheeks it seems that there is dirt, this makes me feel as if I were to touch her face i would be wiping dirt off here face. The lines around her lips give her a look of a look of determination or a cry for help.
I become emotional attached to this image because I feel that I need to help. I want to help this girl in need, and give here a better life. This image was taken in 1985, and later this women was recaptured in here later years in life.
Seeing these to images definitely adds more to the contrast to the story; Knowing that this women has lived her entire life poor. Her life didn't change one bit, and she still lives today in the same state that she was in as a little girl.
